May Nailbox UK Swatches & Review

Thursday 28 May 2015

Hey Guys!

My second ever Nailbox UK arrived the other day! I loved April's Nailbox so much I was really excited for May's box. You can read my review of April's box HERE

I have to say I wasn't disappointed! This month's box contained 4 polishes: +Essie UK Status Symbol, +ORLYBeautyUK Fiery Orange, +RimmelLondon Lucky Lilac and +OPI Products Alex by the Books as well as a cuticle pusher/scraper by Elegant Touch.

Again all of the items were well packaged in the box with Styrofoam S's to protect the items and it was sent via Royal Mail's tracked service.

Here is a close up of the content. The polishes looked great again, although I have to say I wasn't too excited about the Orly polish. I'm not really an orange person!

I'll take you through each polish in turn with swatches:

Essie: Status Symbol

I LOVE this polish! Essie always impress me with the quality of their polishes and they are definitely a favourite brand of mine! I've built up quite the collection but I didn't own this one! It is a stunning hot pink polish with warm tones and is really shiny! It was opaque in 2 coats which was amazing and I topped it with topcoat for the swatch.

As usual I've taken quite a few photos!

Orly Color Blast: Fiery Orange

I have to say I was a little disappointed with this polish. It just wasn't my shade! I hardly own any orange polishes as generally I don't find they compliment my skin tone. It is a very unique shade and it is pretty but I don't think I will wear it often... maybe it will be a good one for Halloween!

I applied 3 thin coats for this swatch but it was opaque in 2. I then topped it with top coat.

There's a lot of detail to this polish so I also took a macro shot.

Rimmel London: Lucky Lilac

This was another gorgeous polish! Although it is named lucky lilac, I wouldn't say it is lilac at all. It is more of a pink-purple shade. Regardless, it really is stunning! Being part of Rimmel's 60seconds range, it was a fast drying polish. I didn't time it to specifically see if it was 60 seconds but it was definitely fast drying which is such a plus! This swatch is again 2 coats topped with top coat.

Nicole by OPI: Alex by the Books

As you all know I have a thing for mint polishes so this was an instant favourite! I LOVE it! The formula was great. I own a lot of OPI polishes but this is my first Nicole by OPI one. It lived up to the usual OPI standards  and swatches shown are 2 coats and topped with top coat.

So that rounds up the polishes. All in all, it was a great selection again and it was a box of 2 coater polishes which I love! I can cope with 3 coats sure but its such a bonus when they only need 2!

Last but not least in the box was of course the Elegant Touch cuticle pusher and scraper. I already own one of these which I detailed in my Nail Care Routine post HERE but it was a nice added extra. The tool seems to be good quality and is much sleeker than my original cuticle pusher/scraper. I think this will be a plus for when I'm needing to transport my nail art tools. It does the job as intended; what more could you want?

Overall

I was really impressed with May's box as I was with April's. I have received good quality products for the price of the box (remember they cost between £13.50-£15 as I detailed in my first post HERE). Although I was a little disappointed with the Orly polish I absolutely loved the other polishes and cuticle tool so it more than makes up for it and you can love them all right!?

They were all polishes that were opaque in 2 coats and all had lovely formulas; what more could you ask for?

If you want to find out a bit more about Nailbox you can read my initial post (linked above) and head over to nailbox.co.uk where you can sign up.

I hope you guys liked this post!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments and as always if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

I will look forward to June's box
