Hey Guys!

So today I have a review of the Sensationail Peel Off Strip Gel Starter Kit to share with you. This was kindly gifted to me by Sparkle PR for a review. However, as always I will give my honest opinion

So to start off the kit includes the peel off base coat, gel cleanser, 'Raspberry Wine' Gel polish, a mystery gel polish (I received Matcha Madness), no wipe top coat, lint free wipes, a file, an orange stick and the LED lamp.

So the idea with this is that you no longer have to soak off gel polish making it faster and easier to wear and remove and also to prevent damage to your nails from soaking.

So I will say I have never used gel polish before this was my first time and the idea of being able to peel off the polish was certainly intriguing.

I did post a little video off the application over on my Instagram which you can watch.

Here is a look at Raspberry Wine:

How to apply:

  1. First prepare your nails. Gently push cuticles back with stick provided then file nails to shape.
  2. Buff lightly all over with the finest side of the buffer to remove shine, then wash hands in washing up liquid and dry thoroughly. Wipe with cleanser on a lint free wipe to dehydrate nails.
Tip: The easiest way to complete your manicure is to do 4 fingers on one hand, 4 fingers on the other, then both thumbs.
  3. Apply the base coat to the nail leaving a narrow border around the edge and allow to air dry for a few seconds.
  4. Apply a coat of SensatioNail Original colour polish and cure for 30 seconds in the LED lamp, repeat with a second coat & cure again.
  5. Finally apply the no wipe top coat and do a final cure for 15-30 seconds. That's it - you're done!!

I found the application really easy - especially as I have said this was my first time using gel polish. The LED lamp blinks at 15 seconds and goes off after 30 seconds too so there is no need to worry about timing. The key is to be as careful as possible during application to ensure the polish doesn't get on your cuticles or skin. If you do catch it make sure to wipe off with the orange stick before curing.

The kit costs £59.99 and you can purchase it from Sensationail's website:

Here is a close up so you can see the polish in detail. As you can see it is gorgeous! It has a really pretty purply/red shimmer to it and has a lovely glossy finish.I was really happy with the application and was excited to be able to peel it off.

This unfortunately was where I had the difficulty. I waited 48hrs as directed before trying to peel it off. It didn't come off in one go which I thought was fine. However, once I had peeled it off and cleansed to remove any residue, I noticed some damage to my nails! I was really disappointed to see this! It had caused parts of my nail to peel off and as a result they were weak in areas. I have had a couple of breaks as a result. Now my nails look to be healing and it hasn't caused significant damage but of course I was disappointed. Now I'm not sure whether it just adhered more strongly to my nail and needed longer but as this was my first time using gel I really didn't know what to expect. I am willing to try it again and leave longer to see. Unfortunately I had to try to take it off when I did as I can't wear polish for work!

The peeling of course was disappointing although it didn't cause a significant amount of damage. I would definitely try leaving it on for longer when trying it again as I have noticed on other videos it has peeled off in one go. As I said this was my first time using gel too so I think it would be worth trying it again.  The application was super easy and the finish of the polish was stunning.

I would love to know if anyone else has tried this kit? What did you think?
