Hey Guys!
So I'm back with these super cute Pokemon nails. I was hoping to blog about these on Sunday but it's just taken a little longer than expected. If you follow me on Instagram you will have already seen these.
I'm so happy with how they turned out! Here is a closer look:
Here you can see I pained a Pokeball on my thumb, Bulbasaur on my pointer, Charmander on my middle nail, Pikachu on my ring finger and Squirtle on my pinkie.
They were all painted freehand - I even created little pictorials for them all which is why the editing took longer!
Products used:
- Ella Mila Polish: Pure Love
- Ella Mila Polish: Beach Resort Blue
- Ella Mila Polish: Ibiza Breeze
- Sally Hansen: Sun Kissed
- Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Mischief Managed
- Nails Inc: Seven Dials
- Acrylic Paint
- Dotting Tools
- Pure Color Glamour 1 brush
- Pure Color 9 brush.
I also created some picture tutorials to show you how I created them. So I'll take you through each nail in turn:
Pokeball:
- Start off painting your nail white and then let it dry COMPLETELY. I used a quick dry top coat. It is essential it is fully dry before the next step of the polish will be pulled off!
- Apply tape horizontally across half of the nail (make sure the tape isnt too sticky masking tape or similar is best).
- Paint the top half of the nail red
- Pull the tape off IMMEDIATELY! This is really important to get a clean line!
- Using a striping brush and black paint trace over the divide line.
- Using a large dotting tool place a black dot in the centre of the line.
- Using a smaller dotting tool, place a white dot in the centre of the black dot just created.
- Apply your top coat and you're done!
Bulbasaur:
- Apply a mint green polish and let it dry completely. I added a quick dry top coat - This is really useful when using acrylic paints as you can rub away mistakes! Using a detail brush and black paint create two small lines for the nose.
- With the same brush create two rounded triangular eyes and the mouth.
- Using white paint fill in the eyes.
- With red paint create smaller triangles within the eyes leaving a white section towards the outside.
- Using a dotting tool and white paint create two pupils.
- With the black paint and a detailer brush create the outline of the teeth and the tongue.
- Using white paint fill in the teeth. Fill in the corners of the mouth with a red/brown paint and the tongue with pink.
- Go over the outlines with black paint again and tidy up the lines. Using the same brush create two lines above the eyes.
- Outline the red part of the eye with black paint. With a green/turquoise paint create three rounded triangles to the top of the face. Finish with a topcoat.
Charmander:
- Paint the nail orange and let it dry completely. Using black paint and a detailer brush create two lines for the nose.
- Create two rounded/arched eyes.
- Create the mouth shape similar to this bracket '}'
- Add two pointy teeth.
- Fill in the eyes with white paint.
- Add black paint over this leaving a small section of white towards the outside.
- With a dark turquoise paint create the curved shapes towards the bottom of the eyes.
- With a dotting tool add two pupils.
- Create two lines above the eyes.Fill in the teeth and then neaten up the lines again. Apply a top coat to finish.
Pikachu:
- Paint your nail yellow and let it dry completely.
- Using a detailer brush and black paint create a small nose.
- Create the mouth similar to a teddy bear or cat. Then create the open mouth underneath.
- Create the outline of the tongue and then fill in the top section a dark red/brown.
- Fill in the tongue with pink paint then neaten up the lines.
- Using a large dotting tool create two eyes.
- Using a smaller dotting tool create two white dots for the pupils.
- Again using large dotting tool and red paint create the cheeks.
- Finish the design with a top coat.
Squirtle:
- Paint the nail blue and let it dry completely.
- Using black paint create two lines for the nose.
- Create two rounded/arched eyes.
- Fill in the eyes with white paint.
- Fill the eyes in with black paint leaving a small section towrds the outside.
- With brown paint create the curved shapes towards the bottom of the eyes.
- Add pupils with a dotting tool and create two lines above the eyes.
- Create the mouth similar to Charmander
- Apply a top coat.
That's it! I really hope you guys like them. I absolutely love them and I'm really happy with how they turned out! I'd love to see if you guys have a go and again sorry for the delay in posting! I'm going to post again on Friday then get back on track with Wednesday and Sunday uploads!
